The
Reverend John Cook is the Presbyterian Campus Minister at the University
of South Carolina. For over 14 years, he has explored his call to ministry
in sharing the beauty of God's creation with teenagers. In exploring this
call, John has helped lead trips out West for 340 young adults with 465
days in the field in more than 23 states and Mexico. Over the years he
has acquired extensive practical experience in expedition behavior, relationships,
counseling, adolescent development, and the assessment and satisfaction
of the needs of young adults.
Through this ministry, John is committed to bringing a safe, challenging,
eye-opening growth experience to students, their families, and their
churches that includes making new friends, accepting responsibility, and
exploring the nature of ourselves, our country, and God.
At least one other staff member accompanies John on the journey. The staff
members are college graduates who are selected based on their
safety awareness, capacity to form interpersonal relationships, decision-making
ability, and commitment to making a difference in this world. The ratio
of staff to young adults is 1 to 4.
